The Chien-Kim-Watkins Trio performs Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time — a transcendent masterpiece composed during his imprisonment as a prisoner of war in World War II. Tragic in origin yet radiant in spirit, the work is a meditation on faith and hope in the face of unimaginable hardship. The ensemble is joined by clarinet faculty member David Shifrin.
