Apex Concerts is delighted to present a program of rare color and expressive depth, showcasing the evocative combination of mezzo-soprano, clarinet, and piano. 2025 Grammy Award-winning mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron, hailed as “a knockout performer” (The Times), is a recognized star in Mahlerian repertoire, with major appearances at the Elbphilharmonie, BRSO, Atlanta Symphony, and Het Concertgebouw’s 2025 Mahler Festival and with 25/26 season debuts with the Los Angeles, New York, and Berlin Philharmonics. She is joined by clarinetist Anthony McGill, principal of the New York Philharmonic and 2020 Avery Fisher Prize recipient, and acclaimed pianist Gloria Chien, an artist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, co-artistic director of Chamber Music Northwest and the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival. Chien is also the founder of Chattanooga’s celebrated String Theory series. Their program features gems by Brahms and Schumann, alongside the Iranian-American composer Kian Ravaei and a new commission by Alex Ho, one of the UK’s most compelling compositional voices.
